Andy
has lived and worked as a blacksmith on the Isle of Mull for 7 years. He
lives in the village of Dervaig in North West Mull with his wife Clare
and three daughters.
Andy has had an interest in Blacksmithing for over 20 years and it was a hobby for 10 years whilst he worked in industry as a pipefitter/welder and combustion engineer in Wolverhampton, West Midlands. Moving to Mull allowed him to begin his own business and work in many areas of metal work. Work undertaken includes design and fabrication of gates and railings. These can be entirely made using traditional blacksmithing methods or by modern welding & fabrication or a combination of both. He has undertaken restoration work of old ironwork. Andy also undertakes stuctural steelwork fabrications and welding for new and existing buildings. He has completed large projects such as the estate gates and railings on Benmore estate to small repairs such as the lawnmower blade for the Craignure golf course. Some of his favourite work is the commisssioned bespoke items he has made such as the Iona Fire station Gate and the "DNA strand" railing (see pictures in gallery one). He has also made some beautiful artistic metal work such as the shoal of fish, candlesticks, hooks, brackets, curtain railings and pokers. Please dont hesitate to email mullmetal@aol.com
